Montessori method is the name of a teaching method for children from 0-12 years old, founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, a pediatrician and also a psychologist, in 1907 in Italy.
Born in the early 90s, but up to now, the teaching philosophy of Montessori method is still valid and has a great influence in most of the developed education in the world. Currently, the Montessori method is applied to teach in over 5,000 schools in the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Sweden….And recently, Montessori began to appear in Vietnam.
A question arises whether the Montessori method, successfully applied in countries around the world, is suitable for teaching Vietnamese children and what will be the results?
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, education and preschool education manager, has spent many years researching and practicing teaching this method in Vietnam, asserting: “The Montessori method is suitable for all children, regardless of culture or language”. The most important thing, she said, is the philosophy of education.

According to Th.s Dung, the sensitive age milestones of a child’s development are equidistant every 3 years: from 0-3 years old, 3-6 years old, 6-9 years old, and 9-12 years old… Applying the Montessori method to children according to these age milestones will help children maximize their abilities.
And recently, according to the survey results of AMS (American Association of Montessori), Montessori teaching application for groups of children at all 3 levels (retarded children; normal children and children with special abilities). especially), most of the children developed more confidence and creativity than the group of children who were taught with the normal method.
